Kevin and the band performed live on RTE’s ‘Saturday with Miriam’ show on Saturday 18th July to promote their upcoming concert in Dublin’s Olympia Theatre on August 16th.
The song chosen for the performance was the classic ‘Suspicious Minds’ with the band and Kevin styling their version of the song on a blend of the original studio recording with the live, TCB Band style of the song. Having played on many shows over the years we were taken aback at the friendly, relaxed atmosphere on and off set. We enjoyed a great day in RTE and wish to thank Pat, Fionnuala, John and, of course, Miriam O’Callaghan for their hospitality. Thanks also to Claire Whelan in MCD for organising the appearance.

Irelands foremost Elvis Performer, Kevin Doyle will take to the stage this August to star in a brand new musical ‘Kevin Doyle Sings the Elvis Presley Songbook’. The show taking place at Dublin’s renowned Olympia Theatre is a new concert of the King’s greatest hits has been granted official permission by CKX on behalf of Elvis Presley Enterprises. Tickets from €25.50 are on sale now from Ticketmaster and usual outlets nationwide.
This event is not about pyrotechnics, fancy costumes or smoke and mirrors – it’s about the good stuff: great songs, played well and led by a singer who has the ability to lift an audience out of these grey days.
This is high energy live music entertainment with a big band sound and a frontman whose stage presence and vocal ability are remarkably close to the king himself. As Ray Walker, bass singer with the Jordanaires and friend of Presley, says of Kevin and the show; “Elvis would be proud.”
Backed by his regular backing group the Way It Was orchestra, this is an updated version of the sell-out theatre show that always leaves the audience on their feet wanting more! Kevin and the Way It Was Orchestra are Ireland’s leading Elvis act. They have starred in their own Christmas special on RTE television, made numerous appearances on national radio and TV, as well as performing a steady stream of successful concerts and live theatre shows, including the Point as well as sold-out runs in the Tivoli, Olympia and Gaiety Theatres. Kevin and the group have been widely praised for their authenticity and have played with many of Elvis’ backing musicians including the Jordanaires vocal group, the famous TCB band and the King’s longtime friend Charlie Hodge.
The live band will play all the major hits – from Elvis’ early recordings as he took his first steps in the world of rock, through to his ‘comeback’ TV special in 1968 and the towering live performances of the 1970s, faithfully recreating the sounds that people know and love from every era in the King’s career.Stand-out numbers include ‘That’s All Right’, ‘Heartbreak Hotel’, ‘Love Me Tender’, ‘It’s Now Or Never’, ‘An American Trilogy’and of course, ‘Suspicious Minds’. The show also features film footage, special guest voiceovers to give audiences a rare look into Elvis’ life through sound, image and live performances.
